This mount seems to be better than the factory original. At first I was concerned that the "neck" of the mount with the knob on the end to which you attach the Garmin was stationary and didn't move up and down like the factory original. However, I have found that not having the up and down movement of the neck decreased the likelihood that it will snap off while trying to mount or dismount the unit.

I had to purchase this mount because the hinges on the neck of factory original mount snapped when my wife was trying to take the unit off the mount. This one I purchased seems to be a better design than the factory original.


I received the suction mount with my Garmin Nuvi. In general I really like it. But I have had problems. It seems to loose suction with temperature changes. I also use my Nuvi with rental cars and when I used it in Arizona the rubber partially stuck to the windshield when I removed the suction mount. So now my suction mount looses suction frequently. I was about to purchase a replacement when I noticed the large beanbag friction mount. I'm going to give this a try.
