It did not warn me early enough . I wish it has a repeat feature button. Sometimes it speaks too fast or weird pronounciation of route number etc.. Somtimes do recalculation some time don't. This leads me to run around and wastes 15 minutes time and gas. It should insist more on U turn if it is possible. The display should let me know my speed, how many miles to destination . Overall , it does its job very well . It saves me a lot of time. Only thing I need to know is the addresses. After that, garmin takes care of the rest.


I won't give it 5 stars as I think these units should have some learning capability. If the city reconfigures an intersection, the GPS will send you out of the way as it will not recognize the changes and it will continue to do so forever. When you take the correct route, the GPS should remember it. This device is not a substitute for a map but it is 90%. Don't leave home w/o knowing where your going. Buying refurbished is the only way to go.

Garmin Large Dashboard Disk 2 Pack Model 010-10646-00

I purchased one of these disc packs for my Garmin a year ago. I'd read some reviews about them coming un-stuck from the dashboard so I wiped my dash with rubbing alcohol prior to sticking it on. It has been on for a year so far & there is no sign of it letting loose from the dash. The gps mount holds on to it quite well & I'm pleased with the product.

I think that the reason some of them are coming off is that the dash wasn't cleaned with rubbing alcohol before they were stuck down.


I use a Garmin GPS unit in my car. The Garmin dashboard disk was the perfect solution to mounting the unit to where I can see it easily while driving. I was pleased to see how easy it was to install and how well it holds the GPS mount in place. I have not yet tried to peel off the disk to see if it did any significant damage to the dashboard covering. I keep cars a long time so that isn't really a problem for me. I do suggest that you find a nice magnetic knicknack to set on the disk when you leave the car parked. Even though you probably take the GPS with you, the knicknack dould possible disguise the fact that you use a GPS and reduce the possibility of someone breaking into the car.


I purchased two last year, but just bought a new car and needed another. Easy to apply and hold forever! Thank yor Amazon for offering them at such an affordable price!


I needed Garmin dashboard disks because mine had become "unstuck" and the adhesive no longer worked. I didn't want to replace the entire mount. I couldn't find these at Garmin or elsewhere. Everyone else wanted to sell the ENTIRE MOUNT which I didn't need and didn't want to pay the extra for. So it was great to find them with this seller. The price was right and I THINK they would have worked fine.

The problem was that the adhesive used on the disks didn't seem to be strong or "sticky" enough to hold the mount in place. So it keeps falling off. So I had to go buy a "bean bag" to sit on my dash.

Nevertheless, to be fair, I still rated this product a 4 simply because I am not sure whether it failed to stick because the disk adhesive may have been of poor quality or because my dashboard may have had some kind of film from something the guys at the car wash used on my dashboard.

So overall the product SEEMED TO BE what I needed. Now however, I may need to order more disks because the adhesive on the other two no longer sticks on my dashboard. So basically, I wasted money and defeated my whole purpose of buying the disks, because I ended up having to go out and purchase the dashboard bean bag mount. (But again, at this point, since I am not sure of the cause of the failure, I won't blame this on the seller's product.)

Oh, we're darned if we do and darned if we don't. Loose fit or tight fit?

Well, the Neoprene Sleeve Carrying Case for the Garmin Nuvi 255W is, in fact, a loose fit.

Now, why would that be a problem?

Actually it isn't REALLY a problem in terms of function, but a tighter fitting Neoprene cover apparently would make me "feel better" psychologically, about it.

Ok, maybe there is a legitimate "protection" reason, i.e. the looser fit allows for shifting of the device within the sleeve, which might make it less safe - from exactly what, I'm not sure.

Maybe it's just that it's a waste of fabric.

Or, maybe it's that the extra fabric bunches a bit, which makes it more difficult to cram down in your day bag.

Positive Features:

I think the wrist strap is a plus. I had a case that did not have the wrist strap. This means that to transport the Garmin, you have to pick up the actual Garmin - and the more times you come in contact with it, even through a Neoprene Sleeve, the more likely you are to scratch the screen or the casing.

That all being said, I don't recommend habitually twirling the thing around on the wrist strap because 1) you're likely to let it go and break it and 2) you might, very well, wack some unspecting soul in the noggin.

The wrist strap is detachable, in case you find it annoying or your find a 6 year old who can't resist swinging the thing around and hitting people in the noggin.

Fashion colors are always a nice addition to any of these product lines. You really only need one of these things, so choose wisely. I'm not aware of too many people that try to match their Garmin pouches to their outfits. But hey, if that's your bag... have at it.

The zipper is "rubberized" so that it won't scratch up the device if you zip too close.

There is a zip pocket on this sleeve, for what, precisely, I'm not sure. The power cord is really a tight squeeze for this pouch, and I have to tell you, while I know the neoprene is a great fabric to protect devices like this, I just don't see the plus side of cramming anything with metal on it inside the pocket of the Sleeve. The pocket isn't a design "flaw" per se - but really, it's unnecessary, in my book.

However, (and more on Garmin safety in a moment) I take my Garmin out of my car a lot, especially when I'm in the grocery store. And what do you know, coupons fit in that little pocket. I'm certain it wasn't designed for that, but in case you're trying to figure out what could or should go in there.... how about coupons... or a few dollars....or a torn off return address from an envelope that you're going to plug in to the device. Or many it's a quick tear from a flyer with an address of a store you want to go to.

We've used the sleeve with positive results. No scratches or bumps or bruises. I suppose the extra space within the sleeve is nice in that it's easy to get the device in an out.

And finally, it's Neoprene. Neoprene is not waterPROOF, but it is waterRESISTANT. So, when you step out of the car and get hit by a sprinkler, you don't ruin your Garmin. Likewise, you're late and running in the rain, probably don't ruin your Garmin. I do not recommend diving in the pool with it in the Neoprene, or allowing it to be used as a bath toy because Neoprene does, in fact, take on water.

Not so positive things - There's nothing BAD. Just useless pockets, in my opinion, and a bagginess that's just more of an annoyance than anything else. But at least you can have an apple green annoyance, if you so choose.

A NOTE ON SAFETY:

Garmins, and all GPS systems, are hot targets for thieves. It literally takes them under 3 seconds to steal yours. They smash your window, grab it, and they are gone.

Accordingly, these Neoprene Sleeves are a handy way to keep your Garmin safe, not only from scratches and such, but from thieves -- that is if you will remember to take your Garmin with you when you "exit your vehicle." Likewise, do not leave the mounting bracket on the dash or windshield as this is nothing more than an advertisement to thieves - "Hey, lookie here, there's probably a GPS in this car." I can't tell you the number of people I know who take their Garmins out of their cars but leave the mounting brackets up - only to have their window smashed and then things tossed about in the car because the thief was annoyed that the Garmin wasn't there.

Yes, you can lock it in the glove box, but in under 10 seconds, they will smash your window and open the box with a screwdriver.

So, TAKE THE GARMIN WITH YOU - and since you should do that, give one of these Neoprene cases a try.


It's a good carrying case as there is room for some extras like credit cards, etc.


This bag has enough room to put the Garmin Nuvi widescreen in and the power cord; it's a squeeze but definately can be done. The zipper is plastic coated so it won't scratch the screen of the GPS as you slide it in and out of the case. The inside is soft so it won't scratch the screen. The handle to carry it is convenient to slip over your hand so you don't drop it; much like a camera case. I would recommend the product; for the price and quality it's worth it. The colors I bought were Blue and grey. The picture looks like the color you get.


I just wanted a little case to have some extra protection for my nuvi255. I got the blue case - it looks as pictured, so I'm pleased in that department. As another reviewer stated, it is a loose fit. I was hoping for something a little more snug, and with a little more padding inside, but I guess for the price I can't complain! It definitely fits in there, and there's room for the card charger. If it was a little more snug and more padded I would have given it 5 stars.


I wanted a cheap case to prevent the screen from being scratched on my Garmin Nuvi 255W. That is exactly what it does. It is a loose fit. I cram the car power cord in the zip pocket on the side (which is a tight fit). I then put the whole thing in my suitcase when traveling.

Works well.

Garmin Compatible High Performance active remote external Reviews

Gilsson is a leading manufacturer of garmin and Magellan compatible GPS (Global Positioning System) accessories, including amplified external GPS antennas, GPS power and data cables, GPS carrying cases, GPS data cards, and GPS mounting brackets.

I love this antenna. I've been using it for my Garmin GPSMAP 60CS since I bought it several years ago. Well, recently after a long day of kayaking, watching the STS-119 shuttle launch, and then battling traffic to get home, I was exhausted and sore. I haphazardly yanked on the antenna cable to remove it from my kayak's deck bag, and the connector separated from the cable and stayed attached to the receiver's antenna port.

Oops. Truly not a fault of the antenna. I bought another one quickly.

I've had this thing on my kayak (in fresh water and salt water), on top of my car, clipped to the outside of my backpack, you name it. It has performed admirably every step of the way.

And the performance is excellent. On my last kayak outing, I was getting a consistent 5-foot accuracy on my 60CS, which I have never once achieved with the built-in antenna. Doing the Rock Springs Run here in Central FL with consistent heavy tree cover, I have always been able to get 8-foot accuracy or better.

At any rate, it's such a significant difference that I'm buying another one immediately, and when I upgraded receivers recently, I chose the Colorado 400T over the Oregon 400T specifically because the Oregon doesn't have a port for an external antenna!

One important note, though, is the connector type - choose carefully. If you have a model that has the antenna port on the back (like the 600-series), then choose the angle connector. If your antenna port is on top of the unit (like the Colorado), choose the straight connector. I made the mistake of getting the angle connector for the Colorado, and it's impossible for me to remove the connector without pliers, due to the tight connector and minimal finger space to get a good grip on it.

Also, in my experience (having had both a 9-ft cable and a 3-ft cable), if you're doing any hiking or geocaching with it, do yourself a favor and get the shorter cable. My longer cable spent all of its time coiled up and getting in the way. You could always get an extension cable for the rare occasions where you need the length, and leave it at home the rest of the time.


My Garmin nuvi 350 received satellite signals fine at first, then later (months after) started have trouble acquiring satellites and sometimes lost them for long periods of time. I did a little research and it seems possible that there is a problem that can occur where the GPS thinks an external antenna is attached when it isn't (due to a defective or failed part). Plugging this antenna into my Garmin has so far completely resolved the reception problem. This antenna seems well built and designed and the reception seems excellent too.


I have the Garmin equivalent as well as this. Both are good and both give the the same number of bars boost vs using the GPS in the interior. I rated it 4 instead of 5 because their promotional material claims it to be superior to Garmin and it is just as good but not better. Just buy the cheapest of the two.


I got this on 3 weeks ago, I use it with my Garmin nuvi 360 and I always put my GPS under radio, most of the time it can't pick up signal..., after I got this antenna install and face it to top of deskboard, it work excellent and signal pick up right away when I turn it on and get full bar, I will recommand this to every one and price is cheap....then other brand.


I received a Garmin 550c as a gift. I didn't like having to remove and attach the GPS unit everytime I parked the car. Leaving on the glass wasn't an option due to theft problems.
I ended up mounting the GPS unit low down on the right side of my dash next to and to the right of the radio. This presented a new problem because my heavy (5%) tint blocked the sat. signals almost completely.
A friend suggested that I try this antenna and see if it make any difference.
All I can say now is WOW !! I can not believe the difference this antenna makes. I went from NO bars in my garage to FULL bars everywhere. The GPS takes less than 10 seconds to link up with the sats. and I have yet to lose reception ANYWHERE !! I used to lose the signal sometimes on my way to work when the GPS unit was attached to my windshield. Not anymore !!
Mounting it was easy (put it on the far right side of the dash near the very bottom) and there was plenty of wire to hide almost the entire thing in the dash.
The connector seems strong, I get a great signal now.
The only CONS I have noticed are that the magnets seem weak and the name "GILSSON" is stamped acoss the entire face of the antenna in white.
Because the name is across the antenna, I didn't want to mount the antenna on the outside of the vehicle thus encourging thefts. Right now I just use my sun deflector in my windshield to block the antenna from being seen.

Purchased this in May. It broke in September. The angled-head is a flimsy plastic piece that easily snaps off. Contacted the manufacturer who told me they only warranty their products for 90 days...BUT if I wanted to buy another one, they'd sell it to me at a discount! Thanks, but I'd rather shove a coat hanger in there - it's at least worth what I paid for it!


My Garmin Nuvi 350 has trouble maintaining a satellite signal in the Seattle Washington area, especially when driving in a North/South direction. Note: If you press the satellite strength bars on the Nuvi display screen (upper left corner) it will show you satellite details including the accuracy of your position within Feet/Meters.

My test results: before plugging in the external antenna the Garmin Nuvi displayed an accuracy of 34ft in my backyard which continued to fluctuate significantly. After attaching the external Gilsson GPS antenna the Garmin acquired several more satellites and displayed an accuracy of 9ft which held steady. Conclusion: This thing apparently works!


had to buy this external antenna after the internal one in my Garmin iQue refused to provide any signal to the unit. The cable is strong but flexible and it's long enough to put the GPS unit and antenna almost anywhere in your car. The signal is strong and the unit sees more satellites than it used to do in its best days with an internal antenna.


Antenna works awesome! I have my garmin in a compartment under the radio headunit and it doesn't get very good reception there. I put it in the compartment so i don't have to put away my gps whenever i park. i don't want my car broken into. With this antenna, i get full bars or 4 bars at all times. I get reception in under a minute. I love it.


My Garmin GSMap 60CS would not pickup signals through my wife's Chevy Venture vans windshield. This did the trick. Cable is thin and pliable, so it has no problem getting through a door seal. Cable is also long enough to use it through a rear door which keeps it from interfering with driving. I now use it is both my vehicles as it enhances reception considerably. Magnet holds the unit very securely to the vehicles.
