I feel it's a little too slow and also take me to the wired direction... The calculation system hang pretty often... take more than 2minutes to search the places... but I'm doing fine with it just take longer time to deal with it.

I can't really mention any positives of this GPS over others. With my experience, routing on this unit (at least in Portland, OR,) is inferior to TomTom products. It frequently chooses routes that will get you to your destination, but they are usually the slowest way to get there. I wouldn't recommend getting the MSN Direct service for traffic. It only works on the Interstates, and if you choose to avoid the traffic, the result is usually slower than if you would've stayed in traffic. I will say, however, that the "lowest gas prices" feature works well.
This unit will need a map update. A new map update takes approximately one hour to download on a fast broadband connection. The file then takes about another hour to open. Personally, I came across a "file corrupt" error upon trying 3 different browsers and re-downloading the file. The hold for tech support was approximately 2 hours (including being transferred once.) They were not able to resolve the issue, but were able to refund the purchase price ($80) of the map update after being pressed. To me, this makes the GPS unusable.
I would highly recommend going with a TomTom unit instead, or at the very least, going with a newer Garmin unit, with the expectation that the maps will be outdated in 1-3 years.

I have been using a Mio C220 for almost two years now and it is a piece of junk compared to the Garmin 680. My unit came with 2008 maps even though 2009 maps are avalible. Once I registered it I could download 2009's maps. You must register it within 60 days of your first sattelite acquisition. If you don't get the prompt for your free map update then just call Garmin. You can forward them your order invoice and then they will set it up for you.

I recently purchased the Garmin Nuvi 680 GPS for my fiance as a Christmas gift. We just used it on a trip to Rhode Island and we were both very impressed with it. It had great graphics and a clear direction voice. Also we turned off the route a few times for gas, etc., and the recalculating route time was very fast. The other thing that I really liked is that we live in a very rural area of Maine and it even recognized the little roads out here, lol. The only downside to it that I can say is that the suction cup mount for the windshield did not hold well, we will be purchasing the dash or vent mount soon. Overall I would highly recommend this GPS system to anyone.

I purchased two for Christmas gifts for my son and daughter. They love them. I have a Nuvi 660 and would not go anywhere without it.

Just what I had expected. The bluetooth connection works nicely. I can talk back home while driving back from work. Directions are almost same as Google's Map directions. Although MSN direct is not of help as much. Subscribing to MSN direct is a waste of money.
Very Happy with the product.

I used the 680 for a month now. Very happy with it. Just a few minor issues. It seems to take a bit longer than my Dad's Nuvi 350 to get a GPS signal. The 350 will pick up a signal in my basement, not the 680. Still not that big of a deal. The 680 will lose the GPS signal when driving through the Fort Pitt tunnels (Pittsburgh, PA). The 350 does not. Bluetooth connects fine. If you live in a big city MSN works fine. I live 30 miles west of Pittsburgh, and cannot pick up the signal. The map shows I should. This feature would be nice if it covered more area, but it's useless on the PA Turnpike, or other major highways. I will not pay for this service when my free subscription runs out. Overall, is simple to use, and trustworthy.

THIS YEAR I'VE PURCHASED 2 OF THESE NUVI'S. EVERYONE IS JUST SO EXCITED THE WAY THEY WORK. ALWAYS SO MUCH BETTER THAN A MAP, AND GETTING LOST. WITH THE NUVI THAT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN.

On its maiden voyage, I traveled about 20 miles from my home, I live in the country. I then touched the "Go Home" box, thinking that it would back track what I had just traveled since it was the fastest route home. With in 30 seconds it misidentified the county road I was on. A minute later it told me to turn left onto a gravel road that ran along the paved road for a few miles. This happen a few times. And yes it did route me the long way home. And yes places are no longer there that the 680 say are. Yep just what most of the reviews say! But I think that's the nature of the beast of most GPS systems. But I can't tell you how many times I've stopped at a busy intersection looking for a street sign and couldn't find one. This will help and the hands free "Bluetooth" worked well.I also liked the "View Map" feature, it gives you the the map, the streets and the direction you are traveling. Overall, with a good map and the Garmin 680 it will make the trip more reliable and for sure less stops at the gas station asking for directions. Do you need all the bells and whistles this has? Really , most of us don't. So save yourself a couple hundred bucks and get a basic GPS. It will get you there just as good. But by all means, don't forget the map.

Nice and what I expected (not had a GPS before) but the maps are dated and never did receive the warranty information I was told had been mailed. I have trouble seeing road signs and this should be a huge help and I like the large screen.
