I don't unerstand why anybody likes this, unless I got a defective unit. To start with, the battery life is horrible, but since it comes with a 12V adapter, I thought it wouldn't matter. Wrong. When it was plugged into a USB adapter to charge, it wouldn't operate, it just displayed a graphic of the device connected to a computer, like it was in slave memory mode. But it wasn't. I guess it didn't like the type of USB cable I used, but it still should have realized it wasn't hooked up to a host computer, and let me use the device. So while it was charging up in the car, it was unusable (I was on vacation, and lost at the time, and ended up using the GPS + google maps on my phone, which I didn't want to do).
So I brought it inside the place I was staying at, and connected it to an AC-USB adapter, and it would never fully charge (wouldn't get past 1 of the three bars). Maybe a defective battery.
When it was operating, the touch screen was obnoxiously unresponsive. I had to press the screen many times to get it to recognize what I was selecting.
I have used many different nav systems, and this one easily had the worst user interface I have ever used. To display a map of the current location, I often had to go through a few screens. Even though I set the volume low, when it powered up, it would blast its' power up music as loud as it could. I have used many different consumer electronic devices, and rarely ever do I publicly comment on them, but this one is so bad I had to write this review.
One of the reasons I chose this device was the "lifetime traffic service". On a trip to Los Angeles, the traffic capital of California, it never displayed any traffic alerts. That would almost be impossible, as there is always traffic somewhere in LA.
I (tried to) use this a few times, and I don't want it any more. It's too late to return it, so it will sit in my museum of gadgets.

This was to be my third GPS unit, after previously owning a Tom Tom Go 720 and a Mio C720t. The main reason that I was moving onto another navigator was because I finally had enough of the Mio's software crashing on me. Often, in the middle of being guided to my destination, the operating system would produce an error message and proceeded to restart itself. Of course, this was a huge inconvenience if I was in the middle of following a set of directions! Also, I was fed up with paying an annual fee for my traffic subscription, especially when I was offered no map updates of the sort.
Enter the Navigon 7200T (what is it with the numbers 7, 2, and 0)? This sleek little unit offered free lifetime traffic, as well as monthly map updates (albeit for a fee). So, I ordered one for myself at a very good price. From the go, things were looking very positive - the device looked sexy, with it's flat, one-piece touchscreen on the front panel. Also, it was very small for a widescreen model, and took up very little room on my dash. The navigating software and menu designs were easy to follow, reliably guiding me along familiar routes that I was testing it with. The absence of an MP3 player didn't bother me at all, as I have an iPod that I hook up to my car stereo.
Then, when I tried to start up the Navigon a second time, I got a (familiar) error message and the GPS unit began to restart itself. Uh-oh! So, it took a few minutes of resetting before I could use it again. Even then, I had to wait about another five minutes before it had received a satellite signal. Things were not looking good at this point...
The same thing happened to me several times in the week or so that I had to try it out. Looks like I was back to square one again - with a GPS unit that kept on having blackouts, when all I wanted was simply to be navigated somewhere. Also, to use the traffic feature, I had to plug it into the cigarette lighter, even though the unit was advertised as having an "internal FM receiver" (another thing that really bugged me about the Mio).
Don't get me wrong, there were some things to like about the 7200T. As well as having a slick, physical design, the navigation software (as well as the screen quality) looked fantastic. Also, the Zagat guide was a welcome plus for me, even though there wasn't anywhere near enough entries in the POI database. The voice-entry feature worked OK, even though I had to treat it like an old person with bad hearing!
So, in conclusion, this unit wasn't for me, and was sent back. I have now had the pleasure of testing out a number of GPS systems (some of them belonging to friends of mine), and the only two that used Microsoft Windows as the operating system would crash consistently. I personally use a Mac as my choice of laptop - the main reason being that Windows (particularly Vista) was an unstable piece of software. So, alas, I have now had to return a GPS unit, in addition to a previous laptop, because of issues with Microsoft software. I'll never make that mistake again!
You want my advice? Get a cellphone that has GPS. I'm using Garmin Mobile on my Blackberry Curve 8900, and couldn't be happier.

The Navigon 7200T was bought as a Christmas gift for my wife. It was selected for its voice command, traffic and 3D mapping features. Every feature works great! It locks on a signal quickly inside the car, even without the most direct line of sight to the GPS constellation. English is my wife's third language and the Navigon has no trouble understanding her voice, despite her accent. She has been very happy with this GPS.

I was so excited when I got this....then I used it. It has taken me at least 10 miles out of the way 3 seperate times. It has sent me down dead end streets, and it can't seem to find my home address. I have set to take me to work and it will bring me home a different way. It has twice taken me across a major highway to a "T" road and then angled me back to the major road that I just crossed. DEFINATELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!

This is the first GPS I have owned. Garmin & TomTom are very popular but I read a rave review from my Adventure magazine tech favorites article and was hooked. I purchased one month ago and it has worked very much to my liking. It's user friendly but the only down side is the Voice Entry. It does not like my voice apparently since it habitually attaches the wrong numbers to my destination. I will also use this on my motorcycle since it has a headphone plug-in to use in my helmet. I don't know anything abt the other gps systems but this one has met and exceeded my expectations.

I want to love this product.... BUT ... the screen is beautiful (when it works) and the SW image are great (this is my first GPS unit). After using the device approx 5 times the device stopped functioning- screen went grey with lines through it and I could not get it to reboot / function (unfortunately while I was traveling and I really needed it). Warranty support didn't argue with me which leads me to believe that this has happened before. The hard part was it took 3 weeks to turn around of which i had 4 business trips ... which is the reason i bought the thing in the first place. To add insult to injury the $50 rebate still has not arrived (from early Nov 08) and i was told it would take another 4 weeks to arrive ...
there must certainly be cheaper, better performing options available.

Having owned Garmins and Magelians, I find this unit to be much better. The ease of use, voice entries, & trafic alerts have saved countless hours stuck in trafic. I would recommend this unit for anyone wanting a high quality GPS. Thumbs Up!!

This is my third GPS. The previous two were GARMIN NUVI 2730 and 760 units. Compare to these two, Navigon has MUCH smaller POI database. There are no post office, no coffee shops, no small stores, no doctor offices, COSTCO or BJs. POI search can be challenging due to the confusing menu. The pairing of your phone is UNAVOIDABLE, due to lack of auto search function after the restart of the unit. Another annoying detail is each time you start the car you NEED to turn unit by pressing very little button(the Garmin do that automatically). Otherwise the unit is GREAT. Accurate guide, great function of reality view and 3D, easy address entry by hand or by voice( just "train" the unit properly), very fast search for the satellites, accurate traffic updates, EXCELLENT price(extra $50 on amazon.com gave you THREE years of map updates). Garmin the one-year map cost more then that. Also the similar functioned NUVI 885T cast $700 instead of $300 for NAVIGON 7200T.

I really like this GPS! I've seen other models with features like changing the image of the vehicle or a number of different voices. This unit proves you don't need all those extra bells and whistles that go unnoticed 5 minutes into a trip. The wide screen and screen clarity is great. I love when the banner for the upcoming highway turnoff pops up and goes into reality view. The speed assistant feature has come in handy numerous times and has probably saved me several tickets. Day/night feature is nice. I gave a 4-star rating because this is my second unit. Within a month of my first unit, the screen would not respond in the lower left screen quadrant; made the whole unit useless. Amazon exchanged the unit for me with no questions asked, even though it was outside the 30-day window. This second unit works well; very impressed with it. I can't wait to try out the (free with no pop-ups) traffic feature. Since it's tied to satellite, what I'd like to see is the option to access the weather and/or road conditions along a route. But for only $199 at Amazon, this thing's a steal! Love it!

most items have already been discussed on pro's and cons which i generally agree. Solid gps, but the software and updates website can be confusing. Not very user friendly. In the end with persistance i got software updated and website navigated. GPS interface is different than most and takes some time to get used to.
