This pocket sized Personal Travel Assistant¿ comes with built-in street maps for both continents, making traveling abroad so easy. Similar to the 360, nüvi 370 also ncludes a travel kit and hands-free calling then takes it to the next level with more maps and an integrated traffic receiver.
I tried it in San Diego for the first time and it could not find the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, even with address typed in. Not good. The touch screen and user interface are not very straight forward. Think twice before you get this model.
I like my NUVI 370 with N. America and Europe maps. It's accurate and easy to use. However, I missed:
1. Lane assistance, especially on freeway with car pool lanes, and it doesn't advise which lane to use when connect to another freeway.
2. California does not allow any GPS to be mounted on windshield, except at the far corners, which is difficult with all the wires etc. I wish Garmin comes out with a mount that can be fixed onto the vent or something else on dash board. The OEMs are either not well made, flimsy or difficult to assemble.
3. Speech recognition capabilities so that driver doesn't have to do any touch screen when driving.
4. Earlier warning before turns. Now it is too close to turns before the NUVI warns.
5. Includes lifetime traffic and map update
6. Speedy start when turn on.
Perhaps I am expecting too much for a small gadget of this size.
One of these Nuvis is a must for any traveler driving a car in Europe. It saved us many hours of driving around looking for hotels. The text to speech makes it possible to keep your eyes on the road. Its walking mode guided us through Rome without a problem. It has most parking lots, ATM's, attractions, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, and community centers.
Another feature is the abilty to download different vehicle icons from the garmin Gargage, <http://www8.garmin.com/vehicles/>. If you update the unit, you can get several extra voices. Overall, this is an excellent unit worth double its price.
I recently purchased the Nuvi 370, with both the Europe and the US maps, fully expecting that the maps would be accurate and up-to-date. I was very annoyed to find out that not only were both maps "last year's versions" but the company only allows you to update the accuracy of EITHER map, not both. I chose to update the US map (which took over 4 hours of internet download time), since I was going to use it first. However to make the Europe map accurate, it will cost me another $169 to go on the Garmin website and download the map!! This is a hidden cost and a very steep one at that. It doesn't even seem legal, considering that the expectation of purchasing a new unit is that the information on the unit should reasonably be up-to-date. I will consider returning the unit since it is not as expected and don't like to be extorted for $170 in order to make the unit accurate. Who wants to buy a GPS with outdated maps containing directions to take roads that are possibly closed, under construction, detoured...especially in Europe? ALSO...beware of using the points of interest contained on Garmin units in general. The information is out of date...business have moved or closed and have not been corrected. There are restaurants in my unit for my town that have been closed for over 2 years. I tried to find a post office in a neighboring city and the unit sent me to an old location that had been closed for over a year! You can't trust the internal information and risk traveling on a wild goose chase trying to find that which no longer exists. Obviously, Garmin is not too keen on customer service.
I ordered the Garmin 370 through Amazon purchased from Electro Biz. The unit arrived in two days which was great.. When I tried to register the unit with Garmin, I could not do it because it was already registered. The Garmin 370 was a reconditioned unit sold as a new unit. I sent an e-mail through Amazon to Electro Biz about the problem. By e-mail, Electro Biz assured me the unit was new and that they had sent the serial number to Garmin to start my warranty. They said if I gave them my unit's serial number, they would fix the problem. Two days later I still could not register my unit. I contacted Garmin and was told the unit was a reconditioned unit and only individuals can register the units, not companies that sell them. If I sent Garmin a sales receipt, they could fix the registration so I could register the unit; however, the fact was that the unit was NOT new but reconditioned. I again contacted Amazon and sent an e-mail through Amazon to Electro Biz about the problem. Electro Biz responded that Garmin's information was false and they could fix the serial number problem with Garmin so I could register on line. That was all they could do or I could send the unit back. I was not offered a new unit. I again contacted Garmin and was told the unit was reconditioned and put back into service Nov.8. I have informed Electro Biz that I am returning the unit to them for a refund. Please BEWARE of items purchased from ELECTRO BIZ.
I bought this satnav a month ago while traveling in the mountains of WV. I couldn't receive satellite coverage until I drove to the top of a mountain, got out of my car and waited for a short time, since then it's behaved as expected. While in America the nuvi worked a charm and gave loads of extra information such as nearby restaurants, petrol stations and the lifeblood of drivers; coffee houses.
All of the directions were fine and allowed for random sight-seeing off the main highway without fear of losing my way back. I loved the nuvi feature "Local Attractions" and seeing a list of all the nearby tourist spots. In the past I would have driven to my destination without a second thought as to what may lie just out of sight, now I just touch the screen wherever I am and up comes a list of little known locations, some historic, some quirky, but I feel as though I've been there not just been through there.
I cannot say my nuvi joy followed me home to England. The mapping is just as fine but the list of services to my proximity is far from complete. In the shopping category the only businesses shown are pharmacists, rare book dealers and convenience stores. The restaurant list is only 10% of what I know is in my home town.
Using the nuvi as a receiver for phone calls is brilliant and very easy.
Overall I am very pleased with my purchase, value for money, build quality, ease of use and comfort that I can always find my way "Home".
I also purchased the garmin universal friction mount so as to not have a suction cup on my wind shield, it also allows me to take the nuvi with me in other cars.
Nuvi 370 works great for me , don't have any problems with it so far what so ever.Got it with purpouses of going to europe and it happened im going soon so will be greate to use it. I know it have not dissapointed me while i was in US trying to find places ,so shouldn't be a problem. It gives you all places ur happen to be arround ,stores, restaurants, hotels as well as gas stations and many more .You can store them in "favorites" file so it's easier for u to find good places u like.
It's very easy to operate and has large selection of languages so every one can have it programed without any doubts what this or that can be for .Also nuvi 370 informs you not only through the speaker but also shows on top of maping you are currently about up comming turns.Gives you also information like an average speed and speed u're going,milage and total timing.
Very happy with nuvi being equipped with build in bluetooth. Clear quality of speech no interruptions.
About the navigation; very good with finding right way ,usually fast with spoting of satelites, but sometimes if you go wrong way it takes him a while to find himself and recalculating the maps about 10 sec.Shows right directions so wont have to worry about getting lost. I haven't even once.Other than that works perfectly fine and is the way I want
I have been using this for about 3 months now and overall give it very high marks. The touch screen menus are easy to use even while driving, the amount of warning pre-turns is about perfect, and even though I unplug it and drop it on the floor of my car every day to keep it out of the view of would-be thieves it still works great.
I deactivated the voice notifications and am able to navigate without issue, but the audible directions are useful. (even in Bulgarian)
It does take a while (maybe 3 minutes?) to find the satellites if you first power it on in a city with tall buildings or you have moved a great distance since you powered it off.
The best feature is the trip monitor which keeps track of your highest ever speed. Mine says 189 mph. There is not enough turn warning at this speed.
Portable product (3.5in), good battery life that has North American and European maps loaded. Can be used as an MP3 player or picture viewer. Contains most common AC adapters for international travel and microUSB for charging through laptop. SD Card slot available for Ebooks/Mp3's/jpgs.
I like it because it also has European Maps which I need for my trips to Europe. Have been using this GPS for about a month now, so far so good, it's working find as advertised. Other features I like about this unit is Text-to-Speech and the ability to use my iPhone hand-free thanks to this GPS Bluetooth connection. This Garmin product has been discontinued, hopefully Amazon will lower the price for you, future shoppers/buyers.
