Reviewed serval web sites and decided on the Garmin Nuvi 265T. I originally was going to purchase the Garmin Nuvi 205, but after review the 265T had BlueTooth and lifetime Traffic updates. After receiving my first Nuvi 265T, the unit would re-boot itself... this occured on a daily occurance and during a 60minute operation would re-boot 5-6 times. I returned the unit and received a second Nuvi265T, out of the box the unit tried to acquire satellites..after 15 minutes of looking for satellites the unit completely locked up. (yes, the unit was plugged in to a DC Power Source that worked). I returned this unit and purchased a Garmin Nuvi 205 (the original item I wanted). The Garmin Nuvi 205 has worked very well, no issues. I did purcase through J&R Electronics and their customer service was excellant and responsive.

After having a Garmin C340 for several years, we've been a little disappointed in the Nuvi265. Directions are more confusing and sometimes downright inaccurate. We just returned from a 3000 mile trip, so we tested it pretty thoroughly and just do not find it as reliable as our C340 had been.

The Garmin 265T is my first GPS, but I have used several other GPS units owned by friends. I like my Garmin because it's small but very helpful. It has text-to-speech capability so I can just focus on the road while it tells me which road to take. It has Bluetooth capability and I tried it and it's awesome. I don't regularly use the Bluetooth handsfree capability but I'm sure it'll come in handy when I need it. :)

This is a great product. It picks up satellites much faster than my older Nuvi did, which was a pleasant surprise. It picks up satellites when it's indoors. The Bluetooth option is also a huge benefit. My phone stays in my pocket when I'm driving now, as I can voicedial through the Nuvi, and can even access my phone's contacts list. It's smaller size is perfect for me, since I travel a lot. The traffic, for now, is an entertaining feature. It's not always accurate, so it hasn't helped me to avoid any traffic yet.

The only downside is that the sound sometimes goes away, when the Bluetooth feature is activated, with my phone in the car. That seems to confuse it sometimes. I've had to redial 3 times, before I can hear anything coming from the Nuvi (the phone call, voice directions, even the beeps from touching the buttons on the screen).

This item is great for everyday navigation. I use it for my mobile music instruction business in Houston[...]. For finding a student's house, and saving the address for future use, it's great. The traffic feature, while extremely useful in most situations, can be a few minutes outdated. It'll often show a major backup where an accident has been recently cleared.

Other than that pitfall, the unit is great for the money.

I am very satisfied with the product. It works exactly as described and have not had any problems as of this date. It is great to have the names of the streets called off and how far until I turn and which lane I need to be in to turn. It is easy to program and use.

This Garmin is a great little companion on a trip where you have no idea where you are supposed to be going. I used it shortly after receiving it to go to a home in a part of town with which I'd had no experience and in the dark in addition. The text to speech led me directly to the home which was well off the main road and then helped me return home. Without it I'd still be trying to find my way. It is awesome. In addition, I'd had a new phone equipped with bluetooth technology and it made driving and talking much clearer and safer.(I've since "misplaced" the phone and really miss that feature).

a very very nice gps machine but be careful if u leave it in the cold for some time the voice tends to be lower than what its set to so you have re- adjust the volume from the main menu.
Have used it for some time including a very long trip cross states and it worked perfectly
OH AND THERE IS NO NEED TO BUY A CAR CHARGER WITH IT AS IT IS AVAILABLE IN THE BOX!!!

I love the Nuvi 265T. One issue I have is that the speaker and volume controls seem to be not set properly. Using the volume setting I have, the voice prompts sound low yet the Bluetooth speaker volume causes distortion. The other issue is that the FM Traffic receiver is not built in to the device; rather onto the power cable which requires you to plug the unit in to get traffic information.

This Nuvi does its job admirably. It plots routes, estimates times, finds points of interest, tracks trip details, nags me to make turns, recalculates the route when I don't, and allows me to get by without asking for directions. It's great.

Only two complaints: First, the touch screen isn't as sensitive as I would like - you really have to press hard. If you use a vent-mount or the bean-bag-mount, that means a two handed operation - one hand to hold it, the other to press it. Second, there is only one volume control. The voice-direction volume is also the volume of the feedback beep for every time you press a selection. If you have a lot of ambient noise in the car (traffic, radio, engine, etc.) and you turn its volume up to hear the directions, then the feedback beep is loud as well. This is not too bad when you are stepping through the menus, but when you have to spell something out, it is very annoying. And to back all of the way out to the main menu just to turn the volume down, means starting all over.

Aside from those two things, this Nuvi is terrific. Garmin provides a free POI-loader and the POI-Factory provides lots of points of interest (POI) files to supplement those already built-in.

There is a small problem with exact address locations, but that's probably associated with satellite navigation vagaries. However, I did notice that often the Nuvi will note the change in speed limit as soon as I'm passing the speed limit sign. Naturally, you can't rely on the Nuvi to tell you for certain the speed limit, since municipalities change the limits at will. But the Nuvi's guess is better than not knowing if you missed the sign.

Haven't used the bluetooth capability yet.
