I orderd the Nuvi 260 Refurbished a few days ago and it has arrived. I was a bit concerned reading the other reviews which stated they got a box that had a sticker which said it was "Overhauled".

My unit arrived in a Garmin Box, nicely packaged and no indication whatsoever of being refurbished. There is nothing stating "Overhaul" on the box.

I immediately went to Garmin to register and download the 2010 Map Update. I had no problems at all using my Mac to perform the online registration and get 60 day access to Free Map Updates.

The update is quiet large and totals about 2.7GB so I am doing it from my office connection.

No scratches or blemishes of any kind.

Perfect!

A friend recommended this product to me. I bought a refurb and have had no problems with it so far at all. It looks brand new. The maps were NOT up to date but Garmin updated them for free. All it took was an emailed question. Sometimes I don't like the route it offers, but then I was testing it on locations I already knew how to get too. I like shortcuts! The only location it did wrong though was a Walmart. It wanted me to turn left when the store was actually on my right but that was before the map update so I don't know whether that location has been fixed. But at least it got me to the general location. I don't use it everyday, but it definitely comes in handy for finding places you have been before!

4 of the 5 stars come from the cheap price($99) and Test to Speech which is exactly what i was looking for in the first place. 3.5' screen is really small though but I can live with it. It needs a minute to acquire signal but can reroute in a second! Take that TomTom! The American Jack voice for TTS is way clearer than American Jill and I recommend everyone to download it.

When I first got this refurbished unit I wasn't totally happy in spite of its impressive recalculation speed 'cause the 2008 map it came with didn't show certain local roads near my home(and I bet many other areas too). I was well aware that refurbished units also qualify for the 60-day free map update, so I called Garmin which by the way has the worst custom service in the world given that you practically have to wait on the line for at least 30 minute before someone would pick up the phone. No exaggerating. I thought it was some sort of a practical joke at first when the electronic operator told me to wait for 30 to 35 minutes, and I ended up spending two days calling to them before I realized this must be their test of the costumers' seriousness. When I finally got through the guy said my gps wasn't overhauled by Garmin factory according to their system and my description of the package sounded very much like a counterfeit until I sent him some pictures of the refurbish warranty and the packaging box, and of coz a proof of purchase. After 2 days of waiting they released the 2010 map. It takes several hours to download and install but the new map is awesome and totally worth it. It has every details around my area and gives much more routing choices on local roads. Now I'm happy that I got everything I want and I dont have to deal with their crappy custom service again.

I purchased a refurbished Garmin nuvi 260 with the same warranty as a new one. It proved to be well worth the money. For what I use it for it is perfect! Taking a road trip to Panama City Beach, FL and this little gadget will be right by my side.

I upgraded from a C320 since the Nuvi 260 calls out the street names. It is an amazing little gps and convenient to place and remove in the car. I never leave it in the car and it slips in my shirt pocket when I get out. I would have given it 5 stars, but it has given me a wrong turn a couple of times for no apparent reason, not often though. This may or may not be a fault of the gps, but something to be aware of in that you cannot 100% depend on any gps for directions.

I bgt this product and got it shipped to Singapore. It comes with a car charger and a windscreen mount.

I am glad I bgt a refurbished version since it is no different from a new set. No scratches no dings and dents. Works perfect and I love it! I wldnt know it was refurbished if I hadn't been told.

Wanted to leave a review so that others can benefit from my experience. Delivery was slow from Amazon but still within the stated timing so I cannot complain.

I've been following the various GPS reviews for a while and decided to take the plunge with this model. I figured at $119 the price was right and since it was factory refurbished with a one year warranty, there was not much to loose. Ordered on 2/6 and it arrived 2/18 via USPS. For all intents and purposes this looks like a never-used product. I registered the product and tried to see if it would offer the 2009 maps. It did not, so I called Garmin and after sending a proof of purchase they released the 2009 maps. As stated previously they take about 3-4 hours to download and install. I've not had much of a chance to use the product but it's very intuitive to navigate. I like the TTS function that gives ample warning about upcoming turns. The unit only comes with a car charging cord but I found that the charger for my cell phone (Motorola Razr) fits perfectly. The cable for my digital camera can also be used to connect the nuvi to my pc for downloading maps. If you are in the market for a GPS, this is a pretty painless way to get started. Of course you can always spend more for a brand new model.

Although this was a "Refurbished" GPS, I couldn't tell the difference from a new unit. It looked like new, performed like new and I was even able to download the 2009 maps at no charge from Garmin. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I purchased this unit for my parents and was looking for a GPS that had just the "basics" and yet there were certain features that I felt they would appreciate, i.e. turn by turn direction with spoken street names. Being a current satisfied Garmin user (Nuvi 350)I was solely looking at the Garmin line. In looking for the model that offered the spoken street names this feature raised the price to more then what they wanted to spend. When I found the factory refurbished option I was skeptical but decided to take the risk.

When the unit arrived it looked brand new. It had the car charger and windshield mount in the box. I registered it on line with Garmin but found out I wasn't entitled to the 2009 map as the unit had been activated already. I called Garmin support directly and they were very helpful. I sent them proof of purchase and within 24 hours they updated my Garmnin account and provided me access to the 2009 map free of charge.

If I ever need to replace my Nuvi 350 or purchase another GPS I will be buying factory refurbished.

I would first like to say, thanks for all the previous opinions and reviews. I think I may have read a couple hundred, but any way. The Garmin 260 was easy to set up and the text to speech feature is the best point. It's a little slow at times, but I believe it's because of the slow satellite hook up. Second, you can't beat the refurbished price with a warranty. I registered the 260 with Garmin and was able to add additional features like different vehicles and voices, customize. The only set back I have is the battery life. I don't know if I charged it completely or what ,but I'm only getting about an hour and a half or so before I have to recharge it. Other than that, don't hesitate! It's fun and I can't stop using it.
