I purchased a nüvi 760 without reading the fine print, upon using it I realized that there was no traffic info available where I live, I tried to exchange the unit for a 780 without success, I then purchased this unit which was DOA, Thanks to Amazon great service it was replaced immediatly.
I live at the extreme end of the service area (according to the broadcast map) and it updated itself rapidly, I am now using it often and it helps me avoid traffic, it also connects well with the MSN direct site which send info directly to the GPS unit.
Great system

I purchased this after I got the 850. According to the product information, I should have been able to get service in our area, however once the product arrived, the closest service area was San Francisco 40 miles away, or Sacramento, 60 miles away. You really can't get service unless you are in a very large metro area. I think that needs to be made clearer on the product info. I returned it right away.

The power cable for my Garmin GPS lost it's tip - the positive contact for the 12v car power outlet. The replacement part is exact - it works perfectly. However, there is a obvious problem with these cords - at least two of my friends have had the identical problem with their Garmin GPSs. With the model I have (680), the power cable is also the MSN receiver....making it a $100.00 relacement! - Garmin should change the design.

After unplug from the unit all MSN information erased, so when it plug again it is take a while to receive all information again.

During the 2 months that I've been using my Garmin nuvi 880 GPS, it's proven to be a fine unit, feature-full, and virtually 100% accurate. However, on the downside, 2 of the vehicle power cables I've used to connect this GPS to my automobile's cigarette lighter have broken and are useless. Now, I'm without an appropriate vehicle power cable. and have been unable to find a source that sells a power cable comparable to the one my GARMIN GPS uses, viz., the Accessory Power DC Adapter Cable, Model: DIG-GPS-DC. This cable features a MINI-USB plug that connects to the Garmin 880 GPS unit. It doesn't use a typical, full-size USB connector. So if you know of a supplier of this or any comparable vehicle power cable, please let me know.

Also, does anyone know why the Garmin nuvi 880 GPS unit has been discontinued?

Thanks for taking the time to read this memo.

I have been thinking about getting the GDB 50 but it is hard to decide when you have to pay another $90 for the cord then $130 for lifetime service. If you do have a newer Nuvi the 7x5t's and the 2x5's they are adding new features to the MSN service. They are adding,

Flight Status
Want to check your flight's status before heading to the airport? Receive up-to-date status and schedules for flights arriving to and departing from your local airports.

Doppler Weather Maps
See animated Doppler Weather Maps on your device. These will show current precipitation type (Rain/Mix/Snow) and intensity images for your area, how it has been changing, and can help you plan accordingly for your road trip.

This receiver/antenna option is great. It gives me the weather, shows where the traffic slow downs are, movie times and where they are playing, etc. It does have a lag ans sometimes it just doesn't work for my area. But over time it picks up and shows everything again. Showing the gas prices can save enough over a year to pay for itself.

When I purchased the GPS, I purchased another receiver that was more costly and did not provide the reception or options available with MSN. I can get the traffic quickly and the exact areas where problems are...The purchase was priced good, and received when expected. However, in LESS than 3 months..........the end that goes in the lighter came apart..........this was the 2nd time.......not worth the price for 3 months.

I have used this item for several weeks after I relocated temporarily to Dallas and I can not say enough good about this unit. I especially like the Movie feature and traffic updates which have helped me venture around this new territory. Great combo, but wish this service was included with my original Nuvi 760 purchase.
