No need to connect unit for short trips using vehicle power cable. When fully charged, there is more than enough power charge to get to and from an 'around town' destination.
I'm glad I purchased this additional option even though it was after my "Garmin GPS Navigator" purchase.
I found that I needed this because I would sit in the house at night playing with it to find out how to use everything. I would get it just to have it......
It works fine. It meets my expectations. I needed it for when I am not in the car but want my GPS unit to be charged. I's easy to store. It is the right length. Because I make foreign trips, but will not have my car available, this allows me to use the GPS unlimited. Its multiple adaptors also allow for different sources of power in foreign countries.
The car charger works in the car, but I just wanted to be able to charge my GPS inside my home or other places with A/C if I needed to.
The garmin nuvi was a great gift for my daughter she loves it! The adapter was sold separately but is a must for how she uses the gps. I wish it had been part of the original purchase
Great for charging at home, I like that it's small and fits into a drawer for easy storage. I have used this often and really think it's the way to go instead of charging in the vehicle! Great to take along on holidays or weekends away too.
Great Buy Worked like a charm, lets you program your garmin inside the house.
